چکیده

Powdery mildew is one of melon disease caused by ascomycetes fungus from genus Sphaerotheca and Erysiphe. Breeding considered to be the best approach control infection especially in melon. MG3 a cultivar derived ‘MG1’ x ‘Ladika’ its estimate carry out resistant gene inherited MG1. This research find percentage phenotype characters compared four commercial melons (Action 434, Glamour, MAI ladika) that are popular market. Five planted greenhouse B KP4 UGM. After five weeks, plants where inoculated with UGM leaves. Scoring three days after inoculation infections measured every 3 for eight times using grid line 21 cm small cubics 1,5 cm. The analysis level leaves, plant population was done Fukino protocol. results show tolerant stable compare Action ladika level. damage leaves tissue, decreasing abilities photosynthesis resulting necrotic, chlorotic dead infected In fruits, causes break net, immature rotten flesh, decrease sweetness scent Action434, Ladika. Base on microscopic analysis, isolat member Podosphaera.

The genome of melon (Cucumis melo L.).

We report the genome sequence of melon, an important horticultural crop worldwide. We assembled 375 Mb of the double-haploid line DHL92, representing 83.3% of the estimated melon genome. We predicted 27,427 protein-coding genes, which we analyzed by reconstructing 22,218 phylogenetic trees, allowing mapping of the orthology and paralogy relationships of sequenced plant genomes. We observed the ...

Utilizing Some of Screening Methots in Order to Determine of Tolerance of Salt Stress in the Melon (Cucumis melo L.)

In order to determine the genotypical differences and basic selection parameters for salt tolerance 36 melon genotypes were grown in hydroponics culture. When seedlings reached to 4-5 leaf stages 150 mM NaCl was applied to them. 14 days after salt application, young plants were harvested from control and salt treated groups. The fresh weight of green parts of young plants and the amount of some...

Powdery mildew (Sphaerotheca fuliginea) resistance in melon is selectable at the haploid level.

The major cause of powdery mildew in melons (Cucumis melo L.) is the fungus Sphaerotheca fuliginea. There are several cultivar- and season-specific races of this fungus. In order to control powdery mildew, it is important to introduce resistance to fungal infection into new cultivars during melon breeding. Haploid breeding is a powerful tool for the production of pure lines. In this study, it w...

Mapping and Characterization of the fefe Gene That Controls Iron Uptake in Melon (Cucumis melo L.)

Iron (Fe) deficiency in plants limits crop growth and productivity. Molecular mechanisms that plants use to sense and respond to Fe deficiency by coordinated expression of Fe-uptake genes are not fully understood. The C940-fe chlorotic melon (Cucumis melo) mutant known as fefe is unable to upregulate Fe-uptake genes, however, the FeFe gene had not been identified. In this study, we used two F2 ...

Response of squash (Cucurbita spp.) as rootstock for melon (Cucumis melo L.)

The effects of different Cucurbita spp. rootstocks on melon cultivars belonging to different horticultural groups were studied by comparing grafted plants with non-grafted ones under greenhouse and open ®eld growing conditions. Winter melons (Cucumis melo L.) of the Inodorus group, cvs. `Thraki', `Peplo' and `Lefko Amynteou', and a summer melon of the Cantalupensis group, cv. `Kokkini Banana', ...
